Silverswift Dive and snorkel from Cairns

Departing daily from Cairns, Silverswift is a luxury 29-metre catamaran designed with everything you need to experience an underwater world of colourful marine life in safety and comfort. This trip visits three different sites on The Outer Barrier Reef, allowing certified divers to experience up to 3 dives in a day. Introductory diving is also available onboard for those interested in trying a dive for the very first time.

Adventurous snorkellers can explore spectacular coral formations and underwater gardens awash with vibrantly coloured marine creatures.

Locations vary with the conditions, however, each site is chosen for visual impact, ecological diversity, and the challenge of discovery. Onboard, your crew will encourage you to relax and enjoy the comfort of Silverswift with its bar facilities, fresh water showers, air conditioning and a delicious lunch for hungry adventurers.

Morning and afternoon tea is provided and the spacious deck areas are ideal for sharing a cold drink and tales of your adventure.

Please Note: some medical conditions may prevent you diving and you will be required to complete a waiver and medical statement prior to the trip. If you have recently/continue to suffer from an illness or condition that may affect your dive fitness,  or are currently taking any prescription medication, you will need to consult a doctor for a 'fit to dive' medical certificate.

The trip of a lifetime

We went on the 3-day liveaboard trip. What can I say, the trip of a lifetime! Not only is the Great Barrier Reef everything that you hope it is, but the scale of the operation run by Pro Dive Cairns is impressive. Everything is very well thought-out, from the meals (Scott was fantastic cook!) to the briefings at every site (Kevin was very knowledgeable while at the same time transmitting the right amount of friendliness to make you comfortable to ask anything at anytime). The whole crew (including Rafa, Christie, Satoshi, and Caleb) was great, and you can tell they work very hard at all times to make the whole trip possible. A huge thanks to all. We also loved the flexibility of being able to choose between guided and self-guided (always with a buddy!) dives at each one of our 11 dives. We did a bit of both, as each has its advantages. We take the best memories from this trip. If you are lucky like us, you will also leave the trip with friendships that we hope last a lifetime.

Would do again in a heartbeat

I did the 3 day 2 night liveaboard as a solo traveler (age 17).I felt very welcome by everybody right from the beginning and everyone on the trip was really great, instructors, cook, other divers, etc. Great atmosphere among the group and everyone has a shared love for the ocean. Very international.Dive instructors were great, plenty food. I brought my own snacks but didn't open a single one as I was well fed.We did 11 dives, all were in fantastic reefs and the water visibility was incredible with really healthy reefs. This included 2 night dives. I had my open water certification going into the trip but chose not to do any further offered courses such as Advanced. (purely recreational diving)We saw turtles, plenty of sharks, incredible corals, rays, cuttlefish, etcTo improve and to make the trip more comfortable, it would be great if the air conditioning was a bit less cold as a lot of people felt cold. I recommend to bring a sweater.

ProDive and the GBR

Signed up to dive the GBR with ProDive because they were the only service to offer a dive trip within the length of time I'd available and at a price that didn't break the bank. I wasn't sure what to expect, but after the completion of my time on the 3-day/2-night liveaboard cruise, I would recommend ProDive to any traveler! Some highlights from the trip:-Solo traveler, but made friends with other divers and staff immediately starting with hotel pick-up. -Advanced Open Water certification offered on-board & my dive buddy and I signed up immediately! Amazing price for this very expensive upgrade certification. -Delicious food. Never went hungry!-Expert instructors who don't get paid enough for the work they do. ProDive is able to keep rates low because their staff does everything -- briefs the diving location, instructs upgrading and new students, cleans the parlor area after meals & washes dishes, cleans the living areas after the cruise, operates the shuttles! -Moored on incredible reefs and saw leatherback / hawksbill / green sea turtles, multiple sharks, clownfish, giant clams, a plethora of parrotfish, moray eels, stingrays, and all of Nemos friends! I'd dive with any of the ProDive staff any day of the week, but Flo really gets a special shout-out from me. As we started to descend to complete our deep dive for AoW, I was unable to equalize and I aborted the dive. After completing the dive with the rest of the students, Flo offered to do a 1-on-1 during the next diving session in which we were able to go slow and let my ears sort themselves out. It was an incredibly safe and controlled descent and probably one of the most magical dives of the 11! She is a true lover of the sport and ambassador of the GBR. Hope you get the opportunity to learn from her as I did!
